The rich 1 percent of the United States can be separated from the rest of the U.S. by simple tasks. Take for example a waitress in Newport Beach, California who received a 1 percent tip by a wealthy banker, according to a news article on yahoo.com. To make matters worse, the wealthy banker circled the word “tip” and wrote, “Get a real job.” His bill was $133 and left a $1.33 tip. How insulting. (more…)

As far as I can tell, Shark Energy Drink in all its former glory has disappeared from both Bellingham convenience and grocery stores alike. My roommates and I may be partially responsible for this Shark famine, considering we bought two cases of 24 at once, not to mention the countless singles prior to that. For weeks, I have checked stores almost daily awaiting a new shipment of Shark, yearning for the days of a 50-cent energy fix. Finally, I have come to terms with the fact that Shark may be gone forever. As they say, it’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. (more…)
