On Sunday, a body discovered in Whatcom Creek, while another man goes missing in the Nooksack River

A person walking their dog on Sunday, Feb. 20 came across a partially submerged body in Whatcom Creek near Bellingham Athletic Club, The Bellingham Herald is reporting.

The body of a man appearing to be in his 50s was found at about 3:30 p.m. It was then retrieved by the Bellingham Fire Department’s water rescue team.

Bellingham Police said there are no signs of trauma, but autopsy results are expected on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Bellingham Fire Department’s water rescue team responded to a second water-rescue operation at about 5 p.m. Sunday.

A man jumped into the Nooksack River from a bridge on the Mount Baker Highway, but no body has been recovered, KGMI is reporting.
