Today I called Bellingham Police Spokesman Mark Young on a tip from the Carver Gymnasium reader board, which said the party bus would be back on patrol this spring.

Young said he did not know if the “command vehicles” (read: party bus) would be in use by the Bellingham Police this weekend, but he did say that active patrols are always in force. He also said he was unaware of the message and that it was probably and old one.

Monday, February 28th, 2011

A mentally ill Lynden man was shot and killed by police at about 9:40 a.m. at a Clay Street home after he hit an officer in the head with an object, the Bellingham Herald is reporting.

The deputy, who has not been named, was wounded but survived.

“He’s conscious and talking,” said (Whatcom County Undersheriff Jeff Parks), who was taken to St. Joseph hospital for treatment.

The man, whom relatives identified as 30-year-old Alejandro Martinez, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The family and initial police reports from the scene gave conflicting accounts of what happened.

The incident began when family members called 911 about 9:17 a.m. to report Martinez was out of control and breaking windows in the home he shared with his brother and father.

The bomb exploded, but no one was harmed in the incident. Aside from a loud boom, little damage was done to the front door.

Derkach has a website where he posted a number of paintings, designs and a resume.

View the resume in jpg form here. In it, he says he speaks “English, Russian, Ukrainian, (and has) some understandings of Spanish.” Here are a few more highlights:
