Vikings snag narrow win against SPU

Vikings stole the win with 72-70 against Seattle Pacific University on Thursday, Feb. 23, at Sam Carver Gymnasium. The win placed the Vikings in first place in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference regular-season standings.

Vikings win battle against Central

Vikings fought for a 75-64 win against arch-rival Central Washington University on Saturday, Feb. 18, in Sam Carver Gymnasium. Guard Corinn Waltrip led the Vikings with a game-high of 15 points. The win was the last college home game for senior forward Kristin Schramm.

Vikings steal win from Northwest Nazarene

The Vikings pulled away in the final minutes of the game for a 75-68 win against Northwest Nazarene University on Thursday, Feb. 16, at Sam Carver Gymnasium. Guard Corinn Waltrip had the game high of 18 points. Vikings improved 17-6 overall and 11-4 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Fundraising with the love of homemade baked goods

All proceeds from the donation-based fundraiser are to help members go to a Portland conference in April. Other fundraisers for the club include the popular pub crawl put on in the spring, Wright says.

Vikings scramble for a 77-72 win against Alaska Fairbanks

The Vikings won 77-72 against University of Alaska Fairbanks on Saturday, Feb. 11, in Sam Carver Gymnasium. The Vikings need two wins out of four final games in their regular season to secure the top seed in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Western’s Performing Arts Center Concert Hall was sold out Friday night for the Queer Resource Center’s 20th Annual Drag Show.  The show featured song and dance from Western students and local drag queens and kings.  All proceeds from the event went to the Sean Humphrey House and Evergreen AIDS Foundation.

Vikings win eight in a row

The Vikings won their eighth game in a row with 59-50 against Alaska Anchorage University on Thursday, Feb. 9, at Sam Carver Gymnasium. The win shattered AAU’s six game winning streak and kept the Vikings ranked number one in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Guard John Allen scored the team-high of 15 points.

Etiquette dining

The Career Services Center held their annual Etiquette Dinner on Feb. 8 in the VU Multipurpose Room. Crystal Stanfield, a talent acquisition specialist and alumna of WSU, spoke during this formal dinner event. Throughout the three course meal, Stanfield gave tips on proper etiquette during a formal business dinner. Her tips covered everything from which fork to use first, to keeping a conversation flowing and avoiding an awkward dinner with employers.
