Former Western softball all-star now coach at Olympic CC

January 19th, 2012

Sarah Wehmann // THE WESTERN FRONT

Former all-star pitcher for Western Washington University’s softball team, Erika Quint, is now the softball coach at Olympic Community College in Bremerton, Wash.

During Quint’s time at Western, she ended her career second among career leaders of strikeouts, tied for third in shutouts, was fourth in wins and ended fifth in both complete games and number of innings pitched.  Quint also set eight school records during her time at Western.

Also in her two years at Western, she was named to the NCAA Division II West all-region team and GNAC team.

According to an article in the Kitsap Sun, Quint hopes she can translate what she learned about success as a player to help Olympic College maintain a winning program as their coach.

She does have experience coaching because last year she was a student assistant coach for Western’s softball team.

According to the article, Quint has already started holding meetings with returning players and Olympic College’s season starts on March 3 at a preseason tournament in the Tri-Cities.
