(more…) Porter awarded GNAC co-Female Athlete of the WeekMonday, April 18th, 2011TJ Cotterill // THE WESTERN FRONT Sarah Porter of the Western Track and Field team has been named the GNAC co-Female Athlete of the Week for April 10 to 16—her fifth weekly honor. Porter’s time of 15 minutes and 57.02 seconds in the 5,000 meter during the Mt. SAC Relays on Thursday, April 14 was the second fastest time in GNAC history. She broke her own school record as she finished fourth in the race. Jessica Pixler of Seattle Pacific University holds the fastest GNAC time, 15:44.07, which she set in 2010. Mandi Zemba of Grand Valley State University holds the all-time NCAA Divison II record in the 5,000 meter at 15:38.54, which she set in 2007. Porter’s time is the seventh best in NCAA Division II history. |
