(10/19) Men’s and Women’s hoops time!!!

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

Men’s and women’s basketball make their annual premier Wednesday at the Viking Jam. It’s a lot of hype and the teams goofing off. The only real reason to go is to watch the dunk contest which could be pretty good this year. The men’s team picked up a junior college transfer named Rico Wilkins who might be able to get up and do some cool dunks.
If you are interested in really seeing what the men’s team has to offer this year they are having their first inter-squad scrimmage next Thursday (Oct. 28) in Carver. Word is Mike Duty is still recovering from an ankle injury and is not 100% yet but the rest of the team will be on the court fighting for starting spots.

9 GNAC hoops games live on FSN this season

Friday, October 15th, 2010

FSN made a huge deal with the GNAC putting nine basketball games on TV live.

Western’s men’s hoops team will play in two games on FSN. One of the games will be against pre-season favorite Seattle Pacific.

The women’s team will play at SPU for their debut on FSN.

Hopefully the team won’t make a fool of themselves on live television and can make use of their TV time to show that they still have what it takes to be good after graduating six key players last year.

The men’s team finished their season in the semi-final games of the west regional tournament in the 2009-2010 season.
